Checking environmental status of campus or surrounding area isn't something we even thought of. D not attending Susquehanna, but for those who would like to explore/follow up for themselves or their children:http://www.insidehighered.com/news/2007/03/06/susquehanna

If the university has known about this since 2003 (and it sounds like they have), I feel it is something they should have divulged to their potential students. Obviously, I can see why they haven't!

The last post was in 2005. Does anyone have an update on the current status of the alleged cancern cluster at SU?

Followed up on this as well. The latest information located was 2007 at http://www.depweb.state.pa.us/ncregion/cwp/view.asp?a=3&Q=519676&ncregionNav=|37008|

There is NO cancer cluster in the Selinsgrove area. Both the EPA and the DEP have done extensive, extensive testing on the area and have found no environmental factors linking these coincidences. The "cancer scare" was based upon a very poorly researched, overly-sensationalized article written in the Harrisburg Patriot News that exploited a grieving mother's story in order to raise eyebrows and stir up scandal.
Additionally, it is often overlooked that even though the authorities have completely dispelled the rumors of a cancer cluster, the area in question was an OFF-CAMPUS apartment complex (commonly referred to as "The Warehouse" by the upper-classmen who lived there) that was in no way affiliated with the University, as it is off campus housing.
