<p>There are many people asking for "Chance me for CalTech". Chancing for any top university is always dicey as we really do not know the real profile of the poster, the actual profile of the competition or the the dynamics of the admission committee.</p>
<p>CalTech in that way is at least very clear about two factors:</p>
<p>1) They need to see a passion for math and science, however you choose to demonstrate it.</p>
<p>2) They are not very much in to Affirmative Action (factors like race) or in attributes like legacy or excellence in sports ( with very good but less than stellar academic performance), which may be hooks in other top schools. Those factors do not carry much weight at CalTech.</p>
<p>I would suggest all students who want to know their chances, read these two threads given below first, and then ask specific questions if you need to. That would be better than providing a long list of achievements, which may or may not interest CalTech, and then asking for your chances. If you are really CalTech material, these two threads should answer most of your questions. It will be easier to answer the residual questions.</p>
