SVA or FIT for Photograpy

Hello, I’m looking to transfer to either SVA or FIT for photography in NYC this fall and I am at a crossroads! Originally my dream has to always been to go to SVA because of their amazing photography program, But FIT is way cheaper and based off of their online catalog they seem to have some really great classes. I would love to go to SVA but I am going to be the one paying for my education and I don’t won’t to graduate and be over $100,000 in student debt. Can anyone tell what the photography program is like at FIT versus SVA? Are their a lot of opportunities at FIT for photography in regards to networking, connections, great professors, and internships? Also I’m more geared towards the fine arts aspect of photography as opposed to the fashion aspect and photojournalism. Do you get to pick electives for photography? Do they have great business classes for making it in the photography field?

A photography major with a student loan debt of $100,000.00 who wants fine art instead of a paying job? I had to look at my calendar to make sure it wasn’t April 1st.

Even if one school is somewhat better than the other in a specific major, ALWAYS avoid debt for fine arts.
Remember that you’ll be in NYC for both schools, so the internship and/or study opportunities will be comparable.
The photography programs at both schools are good – neither is appreciably better than the other, so it really comes down to money.

Since FIT is more affordable for you, then go for FIT and don’t look back.

Sorry if I was snarky in #1 above, but, seriously, it is a very very very bad idea to graduate with a huge debt in a major like that. Very bad.
