Have these scholarships been awarded yet? If not, any idea of when they may be?

this was 2008
poor kid still could not afford it

don’t know if changed for this year, my understanding is that, big awards would come soon after acceptance to fish best prospies with some sort of deadline asking if the kid would accept it.
for budgeting purpose or turnover funds to be given away to other kids, I don’t know.
you can call up and ask to be sure, you don’t have to tell who you are or ask your folks to do it for you if they’d be filling the gap.
or
do you want to me to drop by and pull ignorant immigrant stint?
I will gladly do that for you!! thou sure can’t pronounce the name of the guy the award is named after.

These scholarships were awarded the first couple of weeks of March. I do not think that they were generously given out.

Ok thanks - SVA is off my list then, wasn’t high up to start with, at least not recently, but money can change that. Glad I decided not to kill myself to go to the accepted students day this weekend. Have the presidential award with Pratt, still waiting for complete fin aid though and of course waiting on MICA - really liked MICA this weekend, so hoping hard for good money. Thanks for digging through old posts for me Bears (ignorant immigrant, my ***! Nice angle though.)

^it never fails. and/or I have nothing to lose.

I just got my scholarship letter in the mail yesterday and it was dated the 5th of april, so i wouldn’t lost interest.

GSH: MICA is open to negotiation and has been known (by at least one person) to match another school’s offer. Not sure of all the details, except that the student had to show proof (i.e., the letter).

^ Ok money from MICA, still waiting on Pratt fin aid but I got a 15k per year merit scholarship from them with my acceptance so am hoping their fin aid is strong and I will negotiate with MICA from there. I told SVA that they were way off compared to other school’s packages and they asked that I send them my other offers. I’ve pretty much decided on MICA, as long as the numbers are close to what I end up getting from Pratt. Did I just say I was going to go to MICA? - that is the first time I said that out loud! My mom keeps assuring me that there is not just one right choice and that it will be up to me to make whatever school I go to work! So, before I send in $ and paperwork any info or comments on MICA vs. Pratt for illustration would be appreciated.

GSH - your mom is right - it is all what you make of it. You get out of it what you put into it.

I agree and as I’ve said on another thread, you sound like a smart, clear, and very mature student and person. You will surely be successful anywhere!! Pick the school that “feels” the best to you.

Congratulations GSH!!!

^ Thanks everybody… Just found out I landed a job I’ve been waiting on - busing tables, but hopefully I can move up to waiting on tables when I turn 18. Since my parents are helping me with college tuition I really want to be able to pay for all my expenses on my own. Yipee!!!
