i would like to know the answer for this as well (want to study that same major… advertising in the case of sva)
thanks!

I`m actually interested in advertising too and got accepted into both!
[School of Visual Arts > Undergraduate > Advertising > Sample Programs](http://www.schoolofvisualarts.edu/ug/index.jsp?sid0=1&sid1=11&page_id=16)
i saw that though and they say they`re the premier...if we could get feedback from people who go to this school, it would help!

I got accepted to both too…for Graphic Design (might possibly switch into Illustration, so it would be nice to hear for both majors!)

A friend of mine just graduated from the SVA advertising course. It’s a surprise considering he’s not an artist by any means, he said that the program tends to have a fair few none artists in it. Does this mean it’s bad, no. It did, however, convince me to apply for a different major though.

Another friend of mine just graduated from the SVA Graphics course, you’re on the computer a lot. There isn’t much done by hand anymore :c but he would highly recommend it. Anyone who goes to SVA has a great experience.

If you’re considering their Illustration department, keep in mind that it is situated next to their cartooning department. That has a HUGE influence on the work produced.

I don’t have any information on Pratt but I would suggest looking at the senior work produced for the schools and the fields you’re interested in. I find that it gives a great amount of insight to what work you can be accomplishing in four years time. You should be wowed and motivated to move your own work in that direction.
If you’re not impressed or inspired or feeling a connection, move on.
