Hello, I have been accepted to both SVA and University of the Arts and am having trouble deciding between the two. I love New York and want that feeling of being the center of the world, but I feel like the city, and SVA's program can be daunting. I also love Philly; it seems more manageable. I prefer UA's housing and facilities to SVA, but I feel that SVA has the stronger program.

Can anyone shed any light on their experience, and/or quantify/validate my impressions of these schools?

Thanks!

Personally, I would definitely choose UArts. I spent the summer there and absolutely loved it. Philly is incredible and the more you’re there the more you discover. I’ve heard bad things about SVA’s studios and dorms, but the UArts dorms are huge, relatively clean and very nice.

Reputation aside, UArts has incredible dorms, excellent facilities, accessible faculty and in a great location. SVA’s dorms are not very good, although many students move out of them pretty quickly. A lot depends upon your major – what are you planning to study? I think SVA is more well-known for drawing, illustration, photo, graphic design. UArts also has other schools (theatre, dance) so students are slightly more diversified in terms of what they are studying.
