being that i have not seen a thread for transfer applicants to swarthmore, i decided to start one to help all of you out there (and admittedly me) cope with the prolonged wait.

Feel free to post anything you know about or pertaining to so called 'best education money can buy.'

regards, eli

in the event that i am accepted, does anyone know what i should expect in terms of transfer credit and financial aid (middle class family)?

personally i think ur chance is vast...
btw,i have two little problems.
1.how to judge a college is competitive or not?(sounds a bit stupid, but i really want to know)
2.did smith give u FA?i though swarthmore will give almost the same aid. Please correct me if i'm wrong.im also new here.

thank you for your reply gobackto2005. i will attempt to address your questions as best as i can. also, thank you for your optimistic view of my chances at admission to swarthmore, although i definitely would not think that my chances at admission are 'vast.'

you are right about the term 'competitive' being vague when describing a campus environment. i suppose that when i was using it, i was intending to describe the low admission rate, exrememly rigorous workload, and between-student academic competitivity present at my institution in one word.

i received no financial aid from smith, much to my parents' and my own chagrin. i was informed that nearly all of the funds were given to freshman applicants. nevertheless, swarthmore is known for its exceedingly generous financial aid packages (i.e., not loans whatsoever) and ridiculously high endowment per student ratio. i, therefore, hope that swarthmore will give me decent financial assistance in the event that i am accepted.

by the way, have you applied or are you just interested?
