Swarthmore AP Policy

What is its policy? Do they give any credit to AP exams, particularly Literature, Language, and French?

That information is on the registrar's website somewhere...I'd find you the link but the college website seems to be down right now.

I believe, if I recall correctly, that a 4 or 5 (or maybe just a 5...can't remember) for English language or lit will get you a credit (can't remember if you can get two for English or not) and the lit credit can count towards the English major.

In French a 4 or 5 (or maybe just a five...again, can't remember) on language or lit will get you a credit IF you take a one-credit French class at Swat. You can't get credit for both language and lit, only for one of the two.

Here's the official link for AP credit:

<a href="http://www.swarthmore.edu/Admin/registrar/page.phtml?sidebar=policies&content=apcredit%5B/url%5D">http://www.swarthmore.edu/Admin/registrar/page.phtml?sidebar=policies&content=apcredit</a></p>

It's 4 or 5 for French with a one-credit course, from experience. You can check out the rest. :]

Also, AP tests can be used to meet certain distribution requirements (like the language requirement), even if they don't count as a college course for Swarthmore.

They really come into play in placing into various stages of the college calculus sequence.
