well i really did email them and ask point blank when they were actually mailing them (because i saw on another thread a couple years ago someone called them) sooo hopefully i’ll get a response (at all hah) by tomorrow and i’ll let you guys know

tieeris - i am glad that you think i’m going to get accepted, because I’m not that sure!

i wish i had that kind of focus!
i basically like work hard now, keep my options open
and then i found Swat and i knew that was the school i was keeping my options open for without even knowing it

I can’t wait to see what this forum looks like in a couple of days! I have been off and on all night and I really think all of you guys have a great shot at getting in! Only a couple more days or less and this will all be over and we can all get a good night’s rest (hopefully).

belladilauro,

Wouldn’t that be funny if all of us got in? I feel like everyone on here would make a great contribution to the Swarthmore Class of 2014!

i think you’re all going to get accepted!

its just going to be me like ■■■… time to go write some more essays on why i wanna go to that school
“uhh cause my first choice, loveofmylife choice fell through and youre my backup”
liiiike what do you say???
Swat i had to narrow it down A LOT
other schools i feel like i’m going to be paraphrasing their website

hjohnston - While I know that this is a really outdated reply…I went to Boys’ State! (In Connecticut.)

Man. They’re coming out this week? I might just pass out. Tell me, did any of you guys do an overnight visit?

And honestly, we should all get accepted for being this anxious! I mean, we’re probably all fairly bright…why not simply take all the people who want it the most? :-D

(Yes, yes. Wishful thinking…)

Swat2014 - I went to girls state and I LOVED it…by far one of the coolest experiences that I have had in my life.

tyler92 - within in few days this forum might be one of the greatest or one of the worse things for us to look at.

Swat2014, I did 3 unofficial weekend visits.

I just picture all ending up at Swat and becoming best friends… hey, a girl can dream, right?

Also, thanks this thread has really helped me calm down and put things into perspective!

If I get rejected it might take me awhile to look at this thread. :/

I didn’t do an overnight but I did spend some time with students on campus and went to a class of 5 students. I think that just confirmed how amazing Swarthmore was and how I would fit in there.

i did! and it was awesome, it made me love the school even more.
My host was really chill and i met some really cool people.
Not to mention the classes i sat in on were awesome.
Everyones casual conversations even were interesting and controversial
…i feel like they happen all the time when now they happen every once and a while
its just a really cool passionate smart group
that i want to be a part of!! haha
but yeah… a great vibe

belladilauro - i really like that dream though!

yea, this thread has helped me tremendously…there are only 2 kids (me being one) at my school that applied ED to a school…so it’s nice to have some people to talk it out with,

omg kaithags i get what you mean. idk what to say on college essays… swat essay took me forever to narrow down. ahhh and if youre calling the admissions office tomorrow, let us know! im soo nervous and ive been on the stupid rollercoaster all day today. i dont think im gonna be able to sleep…ha…ha.

i have a friend who applied to penn ED(comes out this friday), and she seems soo… indifferent about it. she doenst seem nervous at all? i guess shes confident that shell get in, but how can you stay so relaxed? but another friend of mine whos applied to wellesley(this friday as well), shes sooo nervous like i am haha were all freaking out!

yea…i have no idea how they couldn’t be this nervous! my friends find how jittery i am this week so funny!

There are 4 ED kids at my school and no one is as worked up about it as me…

According to my friend who has hosted many specs Swarthmore kids are just different hahaha. Kaithags that was a HUGE part of my decision to apply to Swarthmore! Everyone seems so passionate about what they’re doing!

I always ask tour guides the same question ‘what is a typical X student like?’ She answered saying ‘There definitely ins’t one, but if I had to pick one unifying characteristic it would be passion. You can just walk around and see; everyone is talking about something interesting and everyone is passionate about what they do.’ That was the moment that just totaly confirmed my love of Swarthmore.

Yeah, the overnight really helped me make my decision. Oddly enough, I didn’t much care for my host, but everyone else I met was awesome! The classes were intriguing, everybody was friendly, and I acquired a strange fondness for the fourth floor of McGabe. It’s just so…quiet. :-D

welll one of my friends is applying Penn ED and is freaking out but he is sooo in its not even funny (mom works there, sister goes there, took classes there, went to China on their program, fencing coach is his coach and is recruiting him) so yeah hes in
and my other friend is applying Cornell ED and hes nervous but he has a REALLY strong app … like one of those kids who has been focused on improving his app since he was born pretty much and their ED acceptance rate is really high so hes in
and another one of my friends is into Yale … like she already got her fin aid package b/c shes being recruited hardcore for crew
soooo basically i’m gonna be the only one rejected and crying while they celebrate haha

and Swat2014… can i ask who your host was? b/c my host was talking to a girl who said she was mean to one of her specs b/c she didnt want her to go there (she was also talking about transferring ha)

hahaha, a bunch of my friends from Girls State got in ED at William & Mary and so we’ve been anxious about it, but now that they know, they are all waiting. everyone that i know that applied ED somewhere that was in my city at Girls State got accepted, so I fear that I’m going to be the lone one that doesn’t get accepted from that group.

hahah wowww. idk many ED applicants in my school… most people are applying to u of m, and its rolling admission so pretty much people are finding out every week. oh godd college confidential and swarthmore are huge distractions right now. i cant focus on anything. ive been doing my math homework for hours.hahahahahah

Well it doesn’t sound like the same one…he was a guy and you seem to be using feminine programs. But I didn’t dislike him. He was just very hands-off; upon showing me around the campus briefly, he began watching The Sopranoes and didn’t speak more than a word or two to me the rest of my stay. (I left him a thank-you note, nonetheless. (-; )
