Swarthmore RD 2025

Son, Waitlisted. 35ACT, all boys Catholic HS, Midwest, 4.6GPAw, 3.97UW, All the APs, Yada yada. LOL plus a math I can’t remember the name that doesn’t have AP as it’s college something or other and differential equations. Engineering major most likely, captain robotics since freshman year, state swimmer 2 years, rowing 2 years. Lots of leadership and STEM service. He is pretty set on his number 1 where he got in REA, so , likely this is a moot point, but we liked their marketing this fall. It was entertaining. Congrats to all find young men and women on their acceptances here and elsewhere. If not here, where are they likely attending?

DS waitlisted. How long is the waitlist anybody here knows? Somewhere I read it was 100. Can’t be true.

What should we do for waitlist?

Admissions is so crazy as always. Oxford is an amazing option. I don’t think swat changes that

Son was rejected. High stats, solid EC’s etc. He has other great options, but this was disappointing.

I was accepted which was quite surprising as I do not have the most amazing stats tbh

Me too

Same, and congrats on Haverford!

What were they if you don’t mind sharing? Cause everyone’s always like “I had terrible stats” and then their SAT will be like 1500…

I hear that often times these selective LACs will waitlist or reject outstanding candidates such as your son because they figure he will go to an Ivy. They may be protecting their yield. I’m sure you know that your son is going to succeed wherever he goes.

Expected for a minimum waitlist, but D got denied. Anyway, D already has 90% full-ride from Tulane. So congratulations to all admitted.

ACT 35
W GPA 4.7
18AP + 8 Honors courses

lmao I get you. When I say not the most amazing stats I just mean in the context of the applicant pool.

I didn’t send my SAT score but got 1420 and superscore of 1490.
My UW GPA is around 3.7 and W GPA is 4.04.
No SAT Subjects or ACT
I’m ranked 32 in my class

I think what saved was my ECs because I hold an international position in a widely recognized service organization.

Good job, so how much need to pay out of pocket after scholarships if you do not mind I ask? 2 years ago, one of my best friends’ D got in, paying 40k/year.

Actually I unfortunately had something missing from my financial aid list so they sent me a letter saying that once it is uploaded they will present my package to me

Thanks for your reply and CONGRATS on your acceptance.

Good luck with that. Hopefully they are generous to provide awards.

I know they’re almost never successful, but Swarthmore was my dream school so I’m just trying to see if it’s at all possible: does Swarthmore make any statement anywhere regarding appeals? I was rejected RD but had significant accomplishments since the deadline that weren’t part of my application, so I figure an appeal is worth a shot if they don’t say anywhere that they don’t accept appeals.

Waitlisted!
I was honestly surprised it wasn’t a straight-up rejection, so yay
