I love that this thread has turned into a conversation that you’d be likely to find on Swat’s campus(:
I love Swarthmore so much. I feel like it’s the perfect school for me and will change the direction of my life. I’ve never been around others who love to learn the way I do, and to be around this would be a lifelong dream come true. Plus, I love debate, and they have an amazing debate team. Everything about this school is like it was made for me.
So, let’s hope I’m lucky enough to get admitted!
Hey I applied to Swarthmore college for fall 2019 transfer student as an rising junior. I know it’s only been a month since we’ve submitted our application, but the wait is unreal because Swarthmore truly is my dream school. Do you guys know when the Swarthmore college will release their decisions?
I think it’s around the 15th @birdyfrombird
@birdyfrombird I emailed them because I need to get back to another school by 5/9, and they just said mid-May, so, yeah, probably around the 15th
@ARousseau apologies for my delayed response, I didn’t see a notification for your question previously. Test scores are optional for Swarthmore so we didn’t have to worry about not having taken SAT or similar.
PS. The 15th feels like a million years from now.
This is the school that I am anxiously waiting to hear back from. I have yet to visit but I know Swarthmore is the school for me. I hope the Gods are listening ^-^
Even though I have been admitted to 7 UC schools for transfer my heart lies in this funky, little Pennsylvanian college.
I’ve looked at this message board so many times and I know that decisions are likely to come out May 15th (round about) but I can’t stop checking the Swarthmore portal incessantly— it’s getting out of hand haha!
@dudeitsmyuser I totally get that feeling. Although, I will say I emailed them hoping for an update because I have a deadline coming up, and they told me once again that they’ll come out mid-May
@Ashtash well here’s to hoping that they decide to push them out a little bit earlier. I’ve got my fingers crossed for the both of us and I hope you get to beat that deadline!
Hi all.
I contemplated whether or not I should even bother applying here, seeing as I don’t have a stellar high school history. I got a GED for various reasons, and my college grades are pretty good, (just got my A.A.) but I’m concerned I won’t get equal consideration because I didn’t get the same opportunities in high school (didn’t take AP classes, moved schools a lot, etc). Anyone else come from unconventional circumstances?
@matcha076 I’m a non-trad student who finished high school in a country without a transcript system, with no honors or AP system either and I graduated HS with mediocre grades… I think the colleges are far more interested in our recent work than in who we were back in high school, when looking at transfer applicants. You can do the thing!
That email from Admissions almost gave me a heart attack haha— best of luck to everyone and I hope the odds are in your favor come May 14th!!!
It gave me one too. Especially after just getting a rejection.
Swarthmore will be the last school I hear from. Is that the same for everyone else?
@ARousseau I think so!
I think Wash U might release on the 15th, and I might also be waiting for Northwestern
Wash U is a great school. I’m regretting not applying to Rice.
What do you all think of the fraternity scandal at Swarthmore right now?
I’m trying so hard not to get my hopes too high for this decision tomorrow lol. Good luck in advance to everyone
