I think your odds are good based on stats. Of course, all are selective, so there will be some unpredictability.

Definitely try to get into Questbridge and make sure who you are comes through in your essays.

Congrats on becoming a QB scholar! If you are attending one of the conferences, be sure to do some research ahead of time. There will be a time when all the partner colleges put up tables and talk to students. If you use ypur time wisely you can settle on your top choices and focus on making personal contact with the reps at each of those tables.

It sounds like you are interested in LACs. There are many fine schools --but you may want to think about geographical limits (if any) and preferences, because it will not be possible to talk to 30+ reps. The day itself will probably give you lots of input since the conference is designed to help you navigate the process. But a headstart is helpful.

Be aware however that MOST QB scholars do not actually match! The most probable outcome is getting deferred to RD…which may still mean an acceptance, after all. However because of this, I would really really suggest that you run net price cals on each school you are interested in. My sons (both QB) know that there is one QB partner for example that is affordable only through Match. At the one I am thinking of, an RD decicion wkithout merit aid is not really affordable. However through Match it would be, since in that case there would be no loans or parental contribution. So…think our various scenarios.

What state are you a resident of? Bard is not a QB school but it does have HEOP, if you are a NY resident, your income makes you eligible for consideration. I think they also have a First Gen scholarship?

Great post, @momcinco !

We have been SO incredibly blessed by experienced posters on this website, and when I can I like to give back.

PS Being a college prep scholar gives you a strong probability (barring unforeseen dips in GPA or not getting application completed) of becoming a Match finalist. Your Math SAT 1 is phemomenal by the way.

You might want to pick on or two really reachy QB schools just to see what happens. Like under 10% acceptance. Swarthmore stands out.

Maybe also try applying to a couple of diversity fly-ins. They are free but since they are very competitive maybe try for three or four, your favorites. You will hear about these at the conference. They are great because 1) they let you experience a campus, which can be esp helpful for big school versus LAC settings 2) they allow you to test out your admissibility chances at selective schools before the actual admissions cycle and 3) you will meet peers who can share their take on schools.

The QB conference will be great to encourage you and give more info. Also you can compare notes with other scholars and maybe even keep in touch to support each other through the craziness of the upcoming months.

@gardenstategal @momcinco Thanks!

Do you think my subject test scores will hurt my chances? I know my math 2 score is pretty bad. Also I have a hard time seeing why top tier colleges would ever accept me. Like, i don’t think I stand out in any way. No awards, no real demonstrated passion. Maybe I’m being pessimistic but yeah lol.

And also I was planning to do as many fly in programs as possible!

Unfortunately I cannot go to the conferencethough.

I think your scores are fine. Really think about what you want to say in your essays.

Sorry if this is intrusive…why can’t you go? And I agree, I think your SAT II scores are not worth worrying about.

PS I was asking because there may be a travel fund if it is due to lack of funds for transportation to the conference
