Hourly train (more frequent during rush hour) from Swarthmore campus to 30th Street takes 1/2 hour, then free connection to LUCY shuttle that leaves about every 10 minutes. Not difficult at all.

That’s probably 40-50 minutes, if you’re lucky; that still takes quite a bit of time. ^^

The cultures of these two schools are very different. Swarthmore is very collaberative, not at all competative. The caliber of the academics is very high, but students and professers work together to facilitate learning. It is considered impolite to talk about grades. My impression is that Penn is quite cutthroat. The engineering program at Swarthmore is small and it is not possible to specialize. You receive a degree in Engineering, not mechanical or chemical, etc. From what I have read the graduates do very well. If you have not visited you should. If you can’t, spend a lot of time on the web sites of these schools.

I’m a little confused when you say you received a merit scholarship. Swat only offers 4 merit scholarships each year, to local residents. All other aid at swat is need based.

This is quite a generalization for an undergraduate student body that is as large and diverse–including in its academic interests–as Penn’s.

I don’t recall slitting anyone’s throat, really. Lots of collaboration and teamwork rings a bell though.

^ Sure you weren’t actually at Swarthmore? ;)

Swarthmore’s a waste of time if you want to be serious after college. Go to Penn.

Did you appeal Princeton’s fin aid? They’re normally very good with matching other schools’ offers.

Princeton Engineering >>>>>>>>>>> Penn Engineering >> Harvey Mudd Engineering >>>>>>>> Swarthmore Engineering

Please update us when you’ve made a decision, OP!

I’m going to PENN!
