Think I can get into SwaRtHmore

Good luck! I attended Bryn Mawr in the late 1960s and used to visit Swarthmore when it was much less diverse than it is today. I think it's wonderful that you're interested in Swarthmore, and I think Swarthmore would be lucky to have you.

Swarthmore's financial aid is almost entirely (their website says, 99%) need-based. I think their merit scholarships are for Pennsylvania residents. Your qualifications will help you get in but probably won't help with aid. You should look at their website.

I'd be more worried about actually getting in to Swarthmore than I would about whether or not they would give me sufficient aid at this point.

Your SAT scores are both below their lower 25%, which really doesn't bode well for admissions.

In general, if an applicant has an SAT score near a school's 75% level, is that generally a safe area ? As for most schools, when they give a range ( e.g. the middle 50% ), any way to tell whether most kids are nearer the top of the range, middle or bottom ? Thanks.

SAT scores near a school's 75% level mean that the applicant is competitive, but definitly not safe (especially at very selective school like Swarthmore). So much more goes into admissions decisions that it's very hard to tell.
