anyone? I feel this forum is pretty lonely..
just submitted my application, nervous to death.

My daughter is applying and isn’t done yet. I think this forum is too lonely too, needs some action! Did you interview? What major are you interested in?

Hey! Me too! I havent sent in my app yet…so far behind…but yay! Other people! Because no one at my school is applying other than me, so…kinda lonely…

yeah I only got my app done so early bc my mom hassled me
no I didn’t interview, I’m a complete fail at talking haha.
thinking about sociology maybe. what about you guys?

it sucks having the same conversation everytime I talk to someone.
“where you applying to?”
“swarthmore.”
“where’s that?”
“PA.”
“…oh. that’s nice.”

i sent my app at the end of october. I’m so nervous!!!
also, that happens to me a lot too. swarthmore is popular in my school but outside of it, no one know what I’m talking about.

i interviewed. i think it went well. as for my possible major, I’m still undecided.

greendog, what state are you from if you don’t mind me asking?
I wish people in my school even heard of swarthmore. GC says that last person to apply was 10 yrs ago, last person accepted was 16.
hopefully I can break that record!

Not an ED applicant here, but at least you don’t go to a high school who has only ever sent one student to a university in the US. To be fair, it was MIT, but the guy had quite some accomplishments under his belt. No one but one of my brother’s teachers (who’s from Philly) knows about Swat, and all he had to say was “Oh… it’s hard to get in there.” So motivational, haha!

do you go to school in the US?

I live in New York which is why its so popular. Small liberal art schools are very popular here.

that’s so strange, I live on long island and not one of my friends has considered a small liberal arts school! I get the stink eye every time I mention one.
well maybe because all my friends have coincidentally turned out to be engineers in one way or another haha.
I swear if everyone I knew got into their dream school, Cornell would be a second of my high school.

yeah but im going to Winter ED.
2290 SATs (800cr/750m/740w)
4.24 GPA at a top 15 new jersey school. My EC’s arent very good though.

hey collegei
i was considering winter ED actually.
do you know why they even have two rounds of ED? I don’t think it’s very common is it?

I’m thinking about art history honors or poli sci honors

and no one here has heard of swat except my parents (alums), family and my math teacher alum…its like grrrritsamazing haha

My d’s a senior at Swat and I just want to say that the people she encounters who have heard of Swat (mainly scholarly intellectual types) say “You go to Swarthmore? Wow!” And she loves it there. Good luck everyone!

yeah some schools have ED II because they know that a lot of people take longer to figure out what they’re first choice is, and to be prepared to send their apps. also, good schools like Swarthmore know their applicants also apply to ivies so some schools have an ED II because schools know they want to apply ED I to ivies then have an option to apply ED II to another school if they don’t get in.

I have the same conversation. Then when I say “you know Williams or Amherst? Like that” people are like ZOMG YOU SMART but few people I know have heard of Swat. tis like being in a secret cool club, huh?

I also applied ED! Did you guys get any confirmation email? cause I didn’t…

Same conversation EVERY time. No one has heard of it.
