Please report here if you are a Swattie of 2009!

Well, I just got the acceptance email... I am IN :-) I am from China and I am glad to meet everyone on CC:-)

Hi. I'm also a member of the class of '09. My screen name is three60rhousekik :)

another swattie....congrats, penumbra! Looking forward to next fall!

Congratulations to all...
my aim is theindri, in case anyone is so inclined (I'm online entirely too often)

By my count, there are seven of you Swarthmore '09 EDers here. That's more than five percent of all the ED acceptances for the entire school. Amazing.

Unfortunately, there were some hopefuls from CC that got the bad news letter from Swat this week. So give them a shout-out, too. That happened last year, too and, as far as I could tell, all of them ended up really happy at great schools -- Bryn Mawr, Vassar, etc. It's a shame they can't accept everybody.

If anyone wants my aim sn, just send me a private message.

Hello, class of 2009! See ya all next fall! My aim is bowtoserenity.

Hey everyone! I'm searchingavalon's daughter, and she convinced me to come on and meet everyone. Congratulations, and see you next fall! My aim is roseofengland226.

Hello. I received my letter on Monday, and I am please to say that Swarthmore saw fit to accept me. :) See you all next fall. My AIM SN in RWArador, MSN is neproks@hotmail.com.

Are any of you potential math/science majors?

I am more of an economics/poli sci/english/history type, personally.

I have a sneaking suspicion that this isn't where I'm going to end up in the end (probably will wander over to Linguistics and never get out, much to the slight dismay of my-what will you do for a job?-parents, haha) but I'd love to major/minor in Astronomy.

Congratulations to u all!!!!:)
I'm applying RD and I would appreciate it very much if you post your stats and the things that you think gave you an edge. Thanks :)

I'm not much of a math/science person - I'm planning on majoring in Medieval Studies, thereby confirming my utter unemployability.

duchess-
first off, awesome screen name. I have a feeling that your sn gives hints as to what your real name is...

anyway, i dont know how much youve looked into medieval studies, but the chair of the department, Michael Cothren, is THE MAN. Michael is an art history professor, a medievalist (well, duh) who specializes in Gothic art, particularly stained glasswork in cathedrals. If you have some interest in art, take his First Year Seminar or Western Survey, the latter being a lecture class, but Michael is entertaining enough to keep you engaged.
I don't know much about the rest of the department, although I do know that Williamson is a specialist on Old and Middle English and he's kind of a dry fellow.
Sorry for that random note, I've been awake for 36 hours and I'm not tired and so I'm rather bored.

If any of you have any Swat related questions, feel free to ask, I'll be around for a few days, trying to avoid books and mildly intellectual work.

Thanks! I still have to read the book I have on the Medici women, but I don't think any of them have my name :). I've just read a lot about the Medici family.
I'm actually the one who you saw in Michael Cothren's Western Survey class when I had an overnight there and sat in on some classes. I thought it was a really interesting class. I talked to him briefly afterwards, since I had also been in his first-year seminar (I think it was something like Studying Art History), and he wanted to know if I was interested in Art History. I told him that I wanted to be a Medieval Studies major, and that I wanted to take Art History classes as part of that. I really liked the Western Survey class, and according to the course catalogue, there are a ton of other really interesting Medieval art classes (most of which he teaches).
Does "dry" mean boring? If so, I suppose I'll make it through - I really wanted to learn Old and Middle English. I don't know much else about the department, except that I spoke to Professor Bensch, the history Medievalist.
Thanks again for helping me on what classes to take! There really are too many to deal with . . .

Hah! My daughter's watching "Charlie's Angles - Full Throttle". I think that would fall pretty much into the same category!

Hey, for current Swat students...do you think you could share a little bit about the dorms....their "personalities," which are most popular for freshmen, which have the nicest rooms, etc. Just wondering :)
