To those of you out there worried about not being able to get your classes because of your later date for the orientation, stop worrying. They assign a certain number of classes of every type to each orientation, so each person has a fair chance at any class. I'm not sure if i should be making a thread for this, but, to me, not getting the date i wanted was a big deal, as it may have been for others of you out there.

i really want to echo this. it’s sooooooo true that it doesn’t matter that much which session you go to. i’ve posted before that i went to session 110 my year, which was the second to last session. i ended up having a great schedule with good professors and all the classes that i needed. people need to stop worrying & making up excuses just so they can sign up for the 1st session.

i agree to an extent. it doesn’t matter much if you’re not a science or engineering major. but if you are, your classes might be really hard to get into, despite the sections that are added for later sessions only.

one of my friends got stuck in the very last session and he’s essentially a whole quarter behind because he couldn’t get into the classes he needed for engineering.

People have a tendency to drop classes at random times (3AM on a tuesday, or something). Keep watching myucla to see if your class that you need suddenly opens up. then all of a sudden you’re on the waitlist, you’ll start moving up. for the first two chem classes i took at ucla, i was on the waitlist when the first day of class started, and the prof said he would admit everyone on the waitlist. so don’t despair, there are many ways to get into classes. a friendly e-mail to the prof letting him or her know your predicament always helps :)
