Are swim tests required for any boarding schools? If so, what do they swim tests entail? Like a certain time for 50m or treading water for x amount of time? I would appreciate this knowledge on any school(to benefit others), but I would really like to know about Exeter.

If you do crew, you’ll be tossed into the pool wearing sweatpants, sweatshirt, sneakers…and tread water until they say stop.
Yes, there is a required swim test at Exeter for all students.
The Hill School does, although I’m not sure what it entails.
As does Andover
Seems like if this were an issue you would have asked during your application?
Oooo, and Andover has the ropes course, too. That would be so much fun!
Exeter students have to pass a swim test, OR sign up for Introductory Swimming as one of their options for Junior PE in the fall. The class is very easygoing and low pressure. You can even skip the test and go straight to the class option if the test makes you very uncomfortable.
SPS started requiring them of new students in the past year or two:

No, it’s not an issue. I can swim, I’m just not very fast. I wanted to know what the swim test entails because I am applying for a Thanksgiving Trip to go sea kayaking in the Bahamas and want to know what to prepare for. (Distance 50m? Treading Water for 5minutes?)
The SPS test above states swimming a length and a half of the pool - 38 yards - no time specified, and treading water for 1 minute. Sounds pretty basic.
Exeter is 50 yards (pool length and back) and treading water for 1 minute.
@booklady123 Thanks so much! Where did you get your information? (Not because I don’t believe you but because I searched a lot of places for it and want to know how you knew.)
My son is a prep this year. He opted out of the test and took the lessons during fall term. He actually enjoyed it. PM me if you want, I’ll give you more info…
