Swimmers...

What do you guys do to keep in shape and swim well? Any special diets? What sort of exercises do you do, in and out of the pool?

They swim... that's enough to make you burn a **** load of calories and define muscle. But, my friend used to do some minor weight lifting along with swimming; some running; and just a few basic exercises.

All I know is I could never be a professional swimmer... that's EXTREMELY difficult.

bumppppppp

Lol you seem to be very interested in male swimmer's muscles, Jonny boy. Hmmmmm........ I wonder.........

Male swimmers are hot, though!

hahaha swimmer RIGHT HERE. Theres all these different things you can do a lot of swimmers also do water polo so that helps and you build up a LOT of endurance in that sport and some do running. Others do weightlifting (either heavy or light based on your event(s)). Diet wise you typically want to eat A LOT of food during the swim season cause you are seriously burning off so many calories it can be dangerous if you dont eat everything in sight but in general i only eat organic everything--a lot of carbs, fruits, protein (especially before and after practice builds muscle) Soy products. Haha if you want specific sets that we do in practice i can give you those.

omg...water polo is freaking HARD. I tried it, over the summer in a course my HS was hosting, because I wanted to get in shape...and yeah. Wowwwww freaking insane. I have lots of respect for polo players.

i love water polo...I cant wait till monday, when i start practices again

we havent played since last year when the season ended, and I am missing it likke HELL

..........

Well seeing as you can swim all year round, just swim constantly. That should do it, haha

okay yeah I'm about 99% sure that what he just posted was a virus site. DO NOT CLICK IT.

goatse is not a virus

either way, I doubt it's anything very savory, considering that you've been spamming it to numerous threads in all the forums. I'd rather not take my chances, thanks.

bumpppppppp

why dont you join a swim team and find out. I have swam for 12 years and it is different for everyone. I have swam against olympians, i probably would have gotten plenty of scholarships, but swimming SUCKS. 12 years really burn you out. Now i wish i could go back but smoking is preventing me and the fact i must work

Swimming doesn't start back up until the fall (for my competitive league) and the winter (for the school team).

I've been swimming three times a day, for 30 minutes at a time. I know it's not a lot, but I get tired.

I can do a 50 in :33 (I'm only 13).

I need to get that under thirty before the summer is over. lol. Any tips?

southpasadena--hey, you're from south pas? I'm from Arcadia! :D

Johnathan--Practice, practice, practice. I'd say work on your endurance first, because what might be slowing you down is you starting out fast and getting tired and slowing down at the end, when you should actually be speeding up again.

practice with fins...they always get my confidence up thinking i can go really fast

Swimmer here. My diet is balanced... i think.. anyway I hate vegetables and fruits, so I just eat normal food, but I also try to eat very little. Just avoid the fat stuff like cheese etc.

1 question. Is it better to swim really fast then take a rest and keep on repeating the set, or is it better to just keep swimming slowly for the whole time with no rest?

P.S. Water polo rulzzz !!

Probably swimming slowly the whole way through.

I can't swim (fast) for more than eight laps without stopping. When I try to swim distance, I go slowly, then speed up at the end.
