Swimming at Rice

Why is it that no school ever has competitive men's swimming? I tried looking at the Rice Athletics Homepage, but its giving me trouble right now. Does anyone know if there are any intramural water sports (swimming, crew, water polo) at Rice?

See you all at owl weekend (less than a week now)!

Um nice username, im hoping thats not indicative of you at all =]

Actually, it is. If you are going to owl weekend and see a lice infested, bucktoothed, dude scratching himself in awkward places--that's me. Give you something to look forward to :-)

I'll be happy if there is only one of him. I mean that in the kindest way possible :) . The lice infested part bugs me though, you sure it's safe to let you in the pool?

Doesn't matter. We redneck don' take too kindly to obeyin' rules.

A number of schools have eliminated men's swimming from their sports roster in order to make Title IX numbers. It is a great shame because this is a sport where men and women practice together, it is an olympic sport. But that along with gymnastics and wrestling are getting the ax at many schools.

That really is too bad. I guess its time to join cross country (yea right...)

There's water polo and crew. They always want people, so you should join.

what about girls' swimming at Rice?

there's varsity girls swimming.
