where can i get some for cheap? i want to start swimming, but i wear contacts. (I guess I could just swim without contacts, but nevertheless, I hate when my eyes gets chlorine/-nated...

wrong forum? I use sweds for racing and regular speedo vanquisher for swim practice. The latter is better for casual swim and seals out the water very nicely. Sets you back around $13, check out swimoutlet.com

They ship from Newark / Fremont, CA

lol i meant just around berkeley so i could grab some and go swimming. thanks for the website though. definitely check it out.

dunno any stores, but i’m on swim team, and for sure you can swim with contacts. so long as they’re the bigger soft kind and not the actual hard lenses type.

I’ve tried both, it was just too painful to use the hard ones while swimming. and if you find a store nearby, please post it so I can go there as well if I need to next year :)

I don’t know if they’re cheap, but there’s a sport supply store on the block up (closer to RSF) from the Tang Center. They sell a lot of stuff related to RSF activities.

Check the little store they have in the RSF. You could get some goggles with your meal points (if you have any). :P

fiesta: interesting…i haven’t swam with contacts before. In general though, I go diagonal when I swim if I don’t open my eyes underwater (like Natalie Coughlin anyone? haha jk I’m not that fast).

hmm i’ll have to check out the stores. I actually have not gone swimming since being up here. What’s the procedure to get in if anyone knows?

Some random goggle tips.

Tighten your goggles so you can open your eyes without the fear of it leaking, but don’t tighten too much that it starts hurting, that’s when the contacts start annoying you.

If one side starts leaking, close that eye, don’t close both eyes and blind yourself. Calmly get to the wall and fix it.

You just need RSF membership to get in. Check the pool hours because they have odd times (due to the swim team and waterpolo people).
