switch college/major at uva?

Is it possible to switch from college of engineering to their business program? I know the application for schools are different, so I was wondering if it is possible because most people have been saying uva's engineering is really not that great and that is what I applied and got into. Is it possible to switch majors at all? Thanks.

Possible? Yes.
Probable? I've heard the Comm School is very competitive.

Commerce '04 Regular Transfers: 201 - Applications, 47 - Offers, 30 - Acceptances.

rose87, you can easily switch out of the e-school to arts & sciences. No one is accepted to the commerce school until the end of their second year, so you would be in the same boat as everyone else applying to the comm school. You would need to take econ 201/202 comm 180/201/202 in order to be competitive in the application process.

Stumper, I think those numbers that you quote might be from people outside of the university trying to get in. Obviously, the comm school is competitive for people trying to get into it from with the university but I don't think it is as difficult as those numbers make it sound.

wahoo2007, so would I be taking econ 201/202 my freshman year? Also, if I would like to switch, when would I be able to do that? Orientation?

Does anyone know if I can change the branch of Engineering? Like if I was accepted for Mechanical Engineering, can I change that to Electrical engineering ? If so, when can we change it?

rose87, I'm not sure when you would be able to switch your major, they may make you stay in for a semester I don't know. You would most likely be taking econ 201 and comm 180 first semester econ 202 and comm 201 second semester and comm 202 third semester and then sometime around january after your third semester you would have to apply to the comm school. Here's a link to the comm school website with info about applying http://www.commerce.virginia.edu/admissions/undergraduate/application_process/current-uva-students.html then there is a link on the left side that talks about prerequisites.

Ohh thank you wahoo2007, do you know if uva's businessor engineering is better?

business is ranked higher than engineering. But don't let that sway your decision. Study whatever you enjoy.

Thanks very much wahoo 2007. I actually enjoy both engineering and business. Do you know how much higher their business is than engineering?

wahoo2007, you're correct. Those numbers are external transfers. Just trying to show how competitive the comm school is.
