switch from EE to ME?

i've been accepted to UIUC and Cal Poly SLO as an EE major and was wondering if I should switch from EE to ME (with an emphasis on electronics, e.g. Mechatronics). I want to be able to design the physical looks of, and manually build/test, automobiles, robots, gadgets, etc... from what I've read on CC, most EE's end up in hardware or software companies, industries I'm hoping to stay away from because they offer mainly sedentary careers.

by the way, I'm still a senior in high school and am waiting for results to arrive from the UC's (Berkeley, SD, LA, SB, Davis, Irvine).

I look forward to everyone's insight =)

I would think that most engineering careers involve sedentary work. Why don't you just go running at the end of the day, hehe?

well, I was hoping there would be a job where I can design something and go to a workshop to make it from scratch. you know, hands on work (away from the computer, preferably 20-30% of the time). or at least a job where I get to go outside and take my creation out for a little test run.
