Hello everyone.
I’m going be a freshman at UCF in the fall - go knights! I have already booked my orientation for June 28th-29th. I just realized that I want to switch my major, but I don’t want to switch before orientation. I hear they split people into groups based on their major and my best friend and I currently are registered for orientation under the same major. I have bad social anxiety and I feel like having him there will just ease me a bit, so I don’t want to be with people I don’t know at all.
the problem is that the major I’m planning on switching to has a class you have to take and it’s only available in the fall. I don’t want to have to wait until sophomore year to take that class.
when I’m at orientation, will they let me sign up for the class even though its technically not in my major? current major is political science with a prelaw track. want to switch it to legal studies. the class is called public affairs careers.
I’ve already basically mapped out the classes I’ll be taking in the fall and it fits perfectly with everything else. I just don’t want to have any problems at orientation.
You can switch your major on the myUCF website anytime. I believe that both of those majors are in the college of health & public affairs, so it’s not a big change. You will speak to an advisor at orientation that will review your planned course list. Then, you can then register for any classes you want.
You will definitely have more fun at orientation WITH a friend. Everyone should bring one
