so the most ridiculously unthinkable thing happened to me yesterday and i just failed 2 courses. to keep things short, if im accepted to a UC, but i cant complete all the pre-reqs for my first major anymore like planned, can i just switch to my alternte major and not get the acceptance revoked? because my alt major has less prereqs and ill be able to finish them. for my first major, ill be missing 2 important classes.

hate to break it to you, but if you fail 2 courses you’re getting rescinded whether they’re major pre-reqs or not.

really? these are my only 2 failed courses though, have mostly As and few Bs. so if i was taking engineering, but failed a music class i would get rescinded? that doesnt make any sense. and the reason i failed is actually really really stupid, and im trying to contact my prof. to see if theres anything i can do about it.

well i just read some threads and my heart just sank. ****.

If your GPA is pretty high, you might be ok for some of the lower tier UCs if they weren’t “required” pre-reqs. If failing those pre-reqs cause you to get rejected for your 1st choice major you will be evaluated for your alternate automatically (save UCLA). You have to CALL admissions though and inform them immediately; you should also update your TAU which you can do for 3 more days. You’ll have a tougher time if you wait to get accepted without them knowing you’ve failed those classes because they’re likely to automatically rescind you. Generally you cannot switch majors this late into the process. The only hope of switching your major is if you get admitted and then switching after you’ve enrolled.
