Switch to Engineering

I'm a junior transfer student that applied to various UC's last November as a Math / Econ major. I have a 3.78 GPA and I'm feel I have a pretty good shot at getting into all of the ones I applied for. However, at this point I want to switch to engineering and it might take an extra year to get the course work done since I haven't taken the necessary physics / chemistry courses. On the other hand, I REALLY do not want to spend another year at a community college, but I don't think they'll let me switch to the college of engineering as a junior transfer with no coursework at the UC.

Does anyone know if this is possible or has anyone heard of anyone doing it? Do I have a better shot of doing this at a lower tier'ed UC like UCSB or UCD than something like Berkeley or UCLA?

i think it is possible because you are switching between colleges which is easier than inside colleges, but it might take you any extra year or a half at the UC with the chem/physics/engineering sequences

im in your shoes. poli sci major wanting to switch to computer science.

from what i understand, its nearly impossible to make the switch at UCLA and UC Berkeley, but you can do it at the other schools easily. Im going to do some calling around once I find out where Ive been accepted to see if I need to stay a 3rd year at CC(which I would HATE to do) or if Ill be going straight to the UCs.

Do more people know anything about it?
