Switched from school full of disadvantaged to one with smart geniuses!! :\

Hi, I was supposed to go to a school with 75% hispanic/mexican (my race)students, but my parents and I wanted a better environment, so we used a family member's address to go to a better school in another district with very smart kids and is approximately 60% asian. would colleges look down on me for using another address to pursue higher goals because i was dishonest? thx. and good luck to all scea'ers

They aren’t gonna notice your address – they’re gonna look at your school profile and how you perform.

what if i mention that i switched in my essay/interview?

darn…i should have stayed at that school and got valedictorian~ :(

I assume you’re referring to your family bending the rules to get you into a better school district, right? Well did you make the move’s potential illegality plain in your essay?

Switching in and of itself isn’t unusual.

I’m of the opinion that Val of a mediocre school isn’t that great. you’re better off being in an environment that will challenge and prepare you. This is of greater use than a momentary “honor”. My local highly prestigious public university pulls in Vals of some of the poorer schools in our area. I know one val from a poor HS who got tons of FA to attend. She struggled and eventually dropped out. In no way was she even prepared to handle the workload. Her HS really let her down, IMHO.
