Hey,

How hard is it to get into the college of chemistry? I'd like to study chemical engineering. But, is it plausible to apply to L&S and then switch to CoC cheme later? That's not ideal for me, I'd rather just apply to Coc, but I don't want to ruin my chances by applying to a really hard college.

Also, when they ask us to discuss our major interest on the essays, did you guys specifically talk about the major: cheme, or just in general, about engineering, or building or what not.

thanks

Change of college policy looks pretty vague. Suggests that it’s unlikely for transfers though.

If you want to be in College of Chemistry, I would apply to that school… I’m more familiar with EECS than Chem, but in EECS it’s actually easier to get into the major by applying during admissions than it is to change into the college from L&S. I would assume CoC is similar. Also, trying to meet deadlines and declare a major and such is super stressful, I know a lot of transfers in L&S who are panicking about their majors and declaring, and picking out backup majors. Apply to the school/major you want. It’s less drama, changing in is tricky, and it’s better to know that you’re in.

Essay: Write about why you picked your major, essentially. Why are you in chem e? What made you go that route?
