As an admitted student that will attend, I have multiple questions about switching colleges within the university. What’s the earliest you can do that? Should it be done before registering for classes at CI? Say for example I applied and was admitted to Columbian with my declared major while applying, but I actually really want to be in Elliott School of International Affairs? How difficult is it to switch, when would one be able to do that, and what’s the process like?
Thanks
I don’t think you’ll be able to do that before apply for classes, but you should call someone within the Admissions department to figure out for sure: 202-994-6040
If you’re not able to right away, don’t sweat it. You’ll have plenty of general classes you’ll need to take that first year. And even if you’re admitted to Columbian you can still take intro classes within Elliot.
@NHuffer Thank you very much! I will give them a call and ask about it
I switched from CCAS to Elliott. all I did was send an e-mail to admissions about switching, and I wrote about a paragraph or two explaining my rationale and why I thought Elliott was a better fit for me. I did this in April I think, and I def reccomend doing it well before CI and choosing classes, otherwise it makes things tougher
hmu with a message if ya wanna see the email I wrote
