Switching colleges

I got into the School of Arts and Sciences, but now, since Vandy Engineering is offering Financial Engineering, I think I might want to switch colleges. I want to know how hard it is and what I need to do to switch my major from math/neuroscience to cs. Thanks!

I switched colleges 3 years ago at Vandy from A&S to Peabody. The rule then was that while you could take classes in the other college prior to switching, you had to wait until the end of your freshman year to apply to switch. That being said, I was able to take some of the intro classes in the school I wanted (Peabody) even though I was still an A&S student. The transition to Peabody was pretty easy and I’d assume it would be pretty easy to Engineering as well, unless the Financial Engineering program has a cap on students and they are already near that. However, since it is new, I’d doubt that to be the case. When you meet with your academic advisor, ask them about that when you are deciding on classes to take.

** ALSO, if you can’t officially switch or take any classes for some reason in Eng. until you switch, definitely get the pre-reqs out of the way, but make sure you’re looking at the Eng. pre-reqs, not A&S, because they are completely different. You don’t want to have wasted classes from freshman year and have to make it up later.

Where can I find info on this? Is this a degree major or minor?

This link describes a 5-yr combination of a computer science BS and MS in financial engineering. I thought there was a wholly undergrad. combination, but maybe I’m wrong. There are modifications to the normal c.s. BS, so a student is supposed to be talking to an advisor from the beginning if this is an interest.

Appreciate the help.
