Switching Colleges

When I applied to UMD, i put down History, which is part of Arts and Humanities, as my major. However, I have now crystallized my academic interests to Geography, which is in Behavioral and Social Sciences. What do I need to do to inform the University of my changed plans. Do i need to do a "transfer form?" And by when does this need to be done?

I too wanted to change majors. What I did was just email the Undergrad office telling them why I wanted to switch (I switched from undecided to computer science) and they switched it for me without any problems! You may have to sign some forms and work things out on the first day of school though…That’s what they told me.

undecided is different than choosing one then changing to one in a different school
I will try what you did, though.

No…it’s not different because he’s undecided and you’re history…the difference is that I do not think Comp Sci is an LEP, however, BSOS majors are.

I recommend calling admissions and asking.

If your stats are not tippy top it could be hard to transfer into BSOS because that is a limited enrollment program. My friends with good stats were given entrance into limited enrollment programs before the start of school with no hassle, but your application is going to have to be evaluated by BSOS to see if you qualify. If you do, and they want you, you should have no problem.

However, this should be done as early as possible.

Things get a lot more complicated after school starts, and probably more complicated as the summer goes on and more and more people decide they want to be in the program.

According to the BSOS website, only three BSOS majors–Criminal Justice, Government and Politics, and Psychology–are LEPs: [College of Behavioral and Social Sciences - Limited Enrollment Program Information](http://www.bsos.umd.edu/for-students/advising/limited-enrollment-program-information.aspx)

I’ll still call admissions though
