Switching dorms...

So, how likely would it be that I could get my dorm switched? I'm in Jester right now, and would like to be in either Kinsolving, Duren, or San Jac. I know the latter two would be pretty much impossible, but how much luck do you think I'd have with Kinsolving?

Pretty much impossible unless you can find someone who’s willing to switch.

I guess I was expecting as much… oh well.

This is a total shot in the dark, but if there’s anyone out there willing to switch dorms, let me know. =/

Just out of curiosity, what’s making you want to switch? I don’t think Kinsolving is exactly the Ritz…

Jester just seems too… high-energy, I guess? I like the location, but my floor is really loud, and I just wish I were somewhere a little more low-key.

(Also, Jester has the tendency to smell a bit funky.)

If you want quiet, try for Littlefield. Some of the rooms in there are so tiny you might find someone who wants more room, and that dorm is Q U I E T, especially on weekends. You might find someone in Littlefield who thinks the liveliness of Jester sounds great.

@classywire- I know what you mean and thats a reason why I didn’t stay at Jester. Try Brackenride, Roberts, or Prather. Maybe even Moore-Hill if your lucky. But you might have a chance to get into Kinsolving.

Hmm… Littlefield doesn’t sound too bad, but I would definitely miss having a connecting bathroom.

Someone told me that it’s easier to get a dorm reassignment at the end of the semester, since that’s when the most people leave. I might wait until then to send a request.

Sorry for the double post, but I have a quick question: are Kinsolving and Jester the only dorms with connecting bathrooms?

I guess your on a renovated floor at Jester? When I stayed at JEast during orientation, it didn’t have a connecting bath only a community bathroom. Kinsolving has private bathrooms on one wing the other is all community

I’m not, actually. I think it differs depending on the wing… it seems like it’s 60% connecting and 40% community on my floor.

Why wait? Send in the request now and if there are no rooms ask to be put first on a waitlist.

Because if other people think that’s the best time to request it then there might end up being rooms but you miss out because other people asked before you did. I can only think of a few reasons why someone would leave the dorms in December since the contract is for a year so I don’t think there will be a ton of rooms open, especially since you want a connecting bathroom and specific dorms.

I’m in Littlefield right now and it is NOT always quiet. lol I guess not this year. But it is clean and smells fine though. I’m not sure if there are any vacant rooms left but you could try.

There is some turnover but the most efficient way to switch dorms is to trade places with someone.
