switching engineering majors in pratt

I applied Mechanical engineering RD and was accepted. However, now i'm learning more towards biomedical engineering. Is it easy to switch majors? Will i lose out on anything if I would've selected BME from the get go?

I'm pretty sure it's a piece of cake - but wait to hear from someone who's actually an engineer.

So - just a quick thing - you were accepted to Pratt, not a particular major. You can pick your major at will (though, generally, you kinda need to decide before junior year). The first year of each program is similar enough that you won't have any issues taking courses that leave your options open. The main first year difference is that MEs have a free natural science elective that for BMEs must be a second semester of chemistry (which nonetheless would count for MEs).

Things start to diverge a bit more sophomore year, though, so by second semester of that year you probably needed to have made a decision. Hope that helps!
