Switching from Accounting to Engineering: Bad Idea?

I am transferring from a community college to a 4-year university in the fall with an associate in business admin, and a declared major in accounting. I’ve recently been feeling serious hesitation about continuing in this program of study. I never considered engineering in high school or even really the past 2 years, but have recently felt that it might be a better fit for me in my future career. However, I don’t want to act on a whim that might result in a waste of time and money. I know that I would have to add on at least an extra year in order to complete all of the requirements. I hear a lot of stories about people switching out of engineering, but I’d love to hear from anyone who changed majors to engineering! Or really from anyone with an opinion about it:)

Do you want to do engineering? If the answer is yes, then do it. You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.

You got one here. I did it switching from accounting to engineering. Business law did me in. But be prepare to work hard, you will be alright.

I switched into engineering. Considered it in HS but ended up pursuing math/stats when I started college (although I was also considering accounting at the time). Compressing the major is hard but possible. You don’t say why you think engineering would be a better fit, so it’s kind of hard to offer any more info.
