switching from chem 14 to chem 20

Let's say I take 14a this quarter, and then next quarter decide to take the 20 series. Would I have to start at 20a again? Or can I go ahead and sign up for 20b?

Does the 14a satisfy the 20a requirement for Physical Science?

Is it hard to make the transition from 14 to 20? Are they taught in really different ways?

no… you won’t skip 20A

20A is “harder” than 14. It was the hardest class of the first year for me and the bad teachers aren’t hard. It’s physical chemistry, quantum mechanics and weird stuff with greek letters lol.

but if I take 20a and get credit for it, I’m forever forbidden to take the 14 series, right?

Yes, you may go from 14 to 20 but not the other way around.

In what sense is 20 “hard”? Is it a lot of memorization, a lot of math, both, or what?

Professors tend to be tougher and often times not understandable in lectures for the 20 series than the 14. The material also goes more in depth.
