Hey everybody, I was wondering if anyone knew if it would be possible to switch from one Biology major to another one without getting department approval, etc. Just for reference I want to switch from Human Biology to Biochemistry / Cell Biology. Thanks for any insight, it is much appreciated.

Yeah. Once you’re in the bio department, you can switch as many times as you want w/out applying. You can also switch out of the bio department and back in one time w/out having to apply

Thanks a lot man, appreciate it.

you are right on the first part (meaning u can switch as many times as you want w/out applying) but are wrong on the 2nd part. once u switch out of the bio dept (which i highly NOT recommend) then its gonna be veryyyyyyy hard for u to go back in (because all the bio majors are impacted and a lotttt of ppl want to petition to get in).

Well I’m just relaying information I got from the bio department via an email last year.

At admit day the head of the bio department told us that they would take bio majors back once without questions. So no, its not difficult at all for you to get back in…the first time.

I just switched majors from microbiology to human biology. The department approved me in 1 day :)
