switching from phys 2 series to 1 series

Hi all,
I'm currently taking phys 2A, but I'm thinking of switching my major to either microbio or human bio, and that only requires the 1 series. Can I get out of any classes from the 1 series using phys2A? Or will I be better off just taking all the courses in 2 series? What about the lab requirements? Better to just take one phys 2 lab, or three phys 1 labs?

Thank you!

depends. do you like physics enough to compete with the scientists and engineers in the class? you'll be learning a lot but possibly at the expense of your GPA (and if you're pre-med, i can see you running for the hills now).

physics 1 is a piece of cake...it's like comparing the math 10 series to math 20 series.

basically you would finish up taking 2A and then next quarter take 1B and the lab then the next quarter after that take 1C and the lab...
at least thats what i think.. you might want to double check with an academic advisor for that one...

I've tutored students in the 1 series, and I disagree that it's a piece of cake. You're still learning the same physics in either sequence.

I dropped from the physics 4 series to the 2 series after taking 4A when I switched from physics major to bio major... I contacted the biology department and told them about my switch and they said it would be fine. You are probably in a similar situation, but I don't know how the labs will work out...
