Hi. I applied EA to Fairfield University to the College of Arts and Sciences intending on being a biology major. I have recently considered going into nursing. When I took a tour, they said you can't switch into the nursing program, you can only switch out. I was wondering if this was only true once you started the actual program or once you submitted your application. Please let me know. Thanks.

Bump! Please help!

My daughter graduated from Fairfield Nursing 2014. I would suggest you call the Nursing department and ask the question. It’s a tough program in which to be accepted and an excellent one. Good luck!
Can you please tell me if the nursing program is extremely difficult. Our daughter was accepted into the program and we want to be sure it is something she can reasonably be expected to do well in. She has a 3.7 GPA and works very hard. She loves Fairfield and wants to attend - we are trying to determine if it is [1] somewhere she will succeed and [2] whether or not it is worth paying about $50k more for at the end of four years, compared to other schools she was accepted to. For our daughter to attend Fairfield, we expect she and us to have to cover the $50k with additional loans. Any insight into the program would be appreciated.
I don’t have firsthand knowledge but can tell you what my daughter, who attends Fairfield, has said about it. She has a few friends in the program. From what I hear, it is definitely a challenging program. The nursing students are very focused and committed and it is known around the campus that the nursing students have a lot on their plates. It is an intense program and in order to keep up and stay with the program, there really isn’t any leeway for slacking off. That being said, it is said to be an excellent program. Also, nursing students coming out of Fairfield have the highest salary among all majors at Fairfield. http://www.fairfield.edu/media/fairfielduniversitywebsite/documents/student/cpc_postgrad13.pdf
As a side note, we have been extremely happy with the university and everything they offer to the students. My second daughter is a senior in high school and we have been on many campus tours and are having a hard time finding another school that matches up! Good luck to your daughter!
