<p>Hey guys!
Just recently, I decided to change my major in (Molecular Environmental Biology) MEB under CNR from Integrative Biology under L&S. But, I really want to major in Nutritional Science under CNR but I'm missing 3 pre-reqs. </p>
<p>Questions:
- Should I just major in Nutritional Science for my UC app? Or
- Should I major in MEB under the same college & then switch after transfer?</p>
<p>I will be finished all the pre-reqs in MEB and Integrative Bio this Spring 2015.</p>
<p>" Transfer students wishing to change colleges must meet with the major advisor for specific guidelines. Students may be eligible after completing one semester at UC Berkeley. Students must meet all lower division requirements, have a GPA above 3.0, and be on track to graduate in a total of 4 semesters at UC Berkeley."</p>
<p>So, in theory it’s possible. As a general rule I wouldn’t bank of being able to change majors after transferring though, especially if the major is competitive during admissions you should expect it to be equally hard (or harder) to change into the major later.</p>
<p>Like failure said, it’s definitely possible as long as you completed the lower division preqs. I applied and got in as a math major, but switched to Econ and Statistics double major. Both of which are either a impacted or restricted major. </p>
I’m in TAP and I applied as public health but am now considering changing to integrative biology if admitted. I heard as long as you have the major prerequisites completed/will be able to complete the remaining ones in a reasonable time, you should have no issue changing your major!
I’m in CNR and changing majors in CNR is very easy as long as you have all the pre-req completed. Take in account that Physics and physiology for nutritional science (PM track) is not a pre-req for declaring. You basically need Chem, O-Chem, Calculus 1+2, a year of bio and that’s about it (+ IGETC).
