I was accepted into viterbi for spring. As I continue to consider my future I am unsure that engineering is my future goal. I am considering going to medical school as well. How hard would it be for me to switch my major to biology (or anything related in the arts and sciences) if I attend USC in the spring?

I would like to know the answer to this as well. I was accepted into the College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences and am considering switching from a biology major to a health promotion and disease prevention major or a global health major.

I don’t think it will be that hard as long as you aren’t changing your major to one at a really selective college like SCA.

I did read on the Orientation FAQ that if you want to change your major they want you to contact them about it before Orientation so they can set you up with the right advisors I think.

While CLAS is the most open and available for immediate major change, the other different schools at USC have limited spots available for incoming freshmen. Some may still be flexible, so don’t worry too much, but some (like SCA, Thornton and others) have no spots available and have a formal application with GPA requirements, supplements and/or auditions down the road to transfer to their major even within USC. Minoring, however, usually does not have the same sort of restrictions for those most selective schools. For new admits, you should really call admissions to ask the question for your particular situation.
