Switching Majors and transferring to Enginnering

Hi,
Have a question if anyone can help... My son was admitted to LSA as pre-pharmacy. He has since decide he is really undecided.. maybe pharmacy or computer science or chemical engineering ... Just something in the math or science. How does this work with Michigan.. does he take intro course in the classes that interest him? Is he allowed to take engineering courses to see if he would like chemical or mechanical engineering or does he have to be in that college? Any information would be great..
Thanks..

Most intro engineering classes he should be able to register for without being in the engineering school. Some will be off limits because there is limited space and it needs to be reserved for people of the appropriate major, but most will have open seats for him. If there were specific classes you had in mind I could check those and let you know.

If he’s not coming in with a lot of credits he should be prepared to decide within the first year if he wants to do engineering.

Depending on how he does on his AP’s next month… he could come in with 22-30 credits. I will ask him about the engineering classes and get back to you…
Thank you.
