Switching Majors (CS --> MechEng)

<p>Hey guys, I'm a current Comp Sci major and I'm thinking about switching to Mechanical Engineering. I've found that the discrete math from my CS classes isn't what I'm really invested it, and I feel like CS is a more appropriate minor/hobby for me.</p>

<p>I had a really bad teacher for AP Physics in high school, but still pulled off a 4. If I'm solid in my mechanics (not amazing, but good enough) do you think I could make the jump to MechEng? I'm currently in Calc III and I'm having a lot of fun (if that's any indicator to you all about the type of person I am).</p>

<p>I would say you your a solid candidate for mechanical engineering. I hope you realize that any type of engineering major will only go up to differential equations for calculus as far as math goes. The rest is a lot of physics based classes</p>

<p>You do need a lot of mechanics in ME. So if you think you like statics, dynamics, etc and can do well with those fundamentals, you should be a good ME student.</p>

<p>Mechanics (statics, dynamics, and fluids) and thermodynamics should be the parts of introductory physics that you like.</p>
