My darling son is realizing that being an art major may not be for him. He is amazing at art but also VERY good at math and science. He ( as well as the hubby and I ) think he would be a fabulous architect and really enjoy it. Problem is, I dont think UCF has that program and he LOVES LOVES LOVES the school. He is very involved already ( and the GF is there). He is meeting with advisor tomorrow. Any suggestions on some of the paths he could follow at UCF?

I would say one of the closest things available is for him to consider Civil Engineering. Math and Science are important. You can consider it the more technical side of architecture. They aren’t exactly the same as you get more creative freedom as an architect since you come up with the design. Here is a link to the department of Civil, Environmental, and Construction Engineering:

Just an extra bit of info, construction engineering used to be a special focus branch of civil but now it has become it’s own degree. UCF is only one of 8 schools in the world that has this program. However, since it is new, construction engineering only goes up to a Bachelor’s degree. UCF and other schools offer all the way up to Ph.D for Civil engineering.
