Switching majors now?

So I got in ED..to CCAS for poli sci.

But since I've applied, I've decided I definitely want to to int'l relations w/ concentration in conflict and security. Is there any way that anyone knows of that I can go into my Freshman year majoring in that? Or would I have to go all the way thru frosh year in CCAS?

thanks!

My S started out in CCAS and switched to the Elliott School after his freshman year. Work with your advisor from the beginning and make it clear you would like to switch. You do have to “apply” to be accepted. My son did not have any problems with switching, but I know he worked very closely with his advisor in CCAS and may have made contact with an advisor in Elliott also. I know there were requirements including a gpa. Interstingly, he also majored in International Affairs with a concentration in Coflict and Security.

I’m not positive, but I think there’s certain courses you’re supposed to take before you can switch into Elliot (some combination of political science, economics, language, and history I think) so you should look into that.

My daughter also thought she would want to change to ES after she was admitted, but is now double majoring with Int Studies under CAS. She was told at the time you could call GW and they might allow you to change, that might be easier now under ED. You do need prerequesites, and those in the major get first crack at some of them at sign-up. I would at least give them a call.

u cant switch schools until after ur freshmen year…and to do so u need i think certain gpa to be eligble to transfer
