I've been admitted to Biomedical Engineering at UT-Austin, but I don't want to do Biomedical Engineering. I don't really want to start at UT-Austin in Engineering. Does anyone know how I would go about or what the chances are of me being able to switch into Psychology?

I would think long and hard if I were you; you have been admitted to one of the most sought after majors, and obviuosly you have the skills to succeed. Talk to advisors, students, and friends before you pull out! You may still decide to change, I am just urging you to proceed slowly!

i agree…im trying to get into bme with a 3.83 and i have biology as my backup to be accepted

if i dont get into bme…i will be trying to transfer to it after i actually start UT

i’d imagine it’d be easier to transfer out of bme into something else than transferring into it

you would be able to switch into psychology without breaking a sweat if you got into UT engineering.

me? I would advise against it, seeing how Cockrell is one best schools for engineering. Whereas liberal arts is arguably the easiest school to get into at UT.

but again if thats what you want to do, then by all means.

Well I’m going into either pre-law or psychiatry… so I think psychology is more fitting to what I want to do…
PLUS I hate science

lol how did you end up in biomedical engineering if you hate science

bme basically culmination of the hardest biology, chemistry and engineering classes put into one major

if it’s REALLY not what you want to do…then by all means transfer out
but you should be really sure thats not what you want to do because…i dont think it would be easy to change your mind and want to get back in.

i’d suggest just starting the basic classes(history english) and seeing how you actually feel about science after a sem or 2?

some people discover they really like math/science after they actually start applying themselves to studying it
