Switching Majors within Annenberg

Hi Everyone,

I was admitted to Annenberg as a Communication major and was simply wondering if it is common (and feasible) to switch to a Journalism major. Should I call the department directly and let them know or simply switch during orientation?

Thanks.

I don’t have kids in Annenberg, but am pretty familiar with USC and I would think it is like anywhere at USC, switching within the same school is easy. There isn’t a big need to it right away, your choice. You can switch during orientation or send your admissions advisor an email before that, or wait till you get to USC, it really doesn’t matter. There really is no rush to do so, my guess is your classes between Comm and J the first semester won’t be that different, unless there is an intro J course you want to take, but you just have to inform them of that at orientation. I would probably email the admissions advisor if you are 100% sure of the change, but you just don’t want to flip flop too many times and appear flaky. But actually, that is your prerogative, and can change as you see fit there.
