I have been admitted to OSU-Columbus as an economics major but I’m now leaning more towards finance, which is in the Fisher business school at OSU. How hard is it to switch my major to finance and internally transfer over to the Fisher business school?

People change their majors all the time when they’re in the middle of being enrolled students in the college, it shouldn’t be too hard to change it before you’re actually an enrolled student at OSU.

By the way, the only way to actually get into Fisher as an incoming freshman is to be in the honors program. All other people have to take a bunch of GEC courses and then apply to Fisher if they have a 3.4 GPA.

It shouldn’t be an issue. You would most likely be pre-business. There are a number of GEC’s you need to take. You can first apply to Fisher at the end of your freshman year. You need at least a 3.0 to be considered. If your gpa is not there by the end of your freshman year, you can then apply around the end of fall quarter and then again at the end of your sophomore year.

Not that hard. Meet the requirements and deadlines and you’ll be just fine.

OP, call the UAFYE office and have your 9 digit OSU ID ready. This only works if you have accepted Ohio State’s offer of admission and have sent in the $100 fee. The person on the phone will make you confirm all of your details and then change your course of study online.

I just called and they send in a notice to the department of your choice which will be confirmed by the department and they (your new department) will send you new orientation information specific for your new major.

So with a call, you can switch your major before you even get on campus. I switched into Biology by the way.
