Switching Majors

sorry if this has already been answered.. but I got accepted in the college of engineering and now im not so sure i want to do engineering anymore. i heard that u have to take a whole semester in the engineering college before u can switch to something else like CAS. i'm afraid ill fail and mess up my gpa. is there a way to switch beforehand?

yeah i wanted to know the same thing-- i wanna do engineering now, but i applied to cas

snowgirl9388: No, you can't switch beforehand, but you can enroll in the standard engineering first semester courses

neelie88: Same deal, but instead of taking your assigned engineering courses, just take arts courses.

Both of you: after your first semester you can apply for internal transfer. In your situations, as long as you have done decently taking the courses from the other college, you will be granted your transfer.

sparty, that is not entirely true. They both can get into an internal transfer division for the second semester, but to get into arts/sciences as a direct transfer, u need to apply at the earlierst as a second semester freshman (Must be enrolled in 4 arts/science courses), and then ur almost guaranteed in (3.0+)

ok. so what's the deal with internal transfer division?

so you aren't required to take a certain number of courses within the college that you're in?

You don't have to take a semester of engineering courses. When you enter the internal transfer division, you just have to take general courses. It's extremely easy to do, so don't sweat about it.

cool thanks a lot =)
