Switching majors??

I was recently admitted EA to Emerson College and I hope to attend this Fall. I was accepted into my first choice major, animation and motion media. However I am on the fence about this. Writing for film and television was my second choice major, and the more I think on it the more I'm leaning towards the writing over the animation. I am extremely conflicted and I do not want to waste any time there considering the schools rather inflated tuition. Would it be possible to change my major from animation to writing for film and television? I've heard that changing majors is something of a challenge. However considering they are both within the visual media arts department I don't see why it would be exceedingly difficult. I feel as though I wouldn't have a problem producing work of the same caliber as the others within the major. I am afraid the head of the department will see that I am an animation major, assume I have no business with the written word, and ultimately refuse my request. However I have a great passion for writing and though it may not seem so, I am actually a talented writer and I have a number of teachers whom could attest to my claim. Also I've received 5s on both my AP Lang and Literature exams, so there is no denying I am a proficient writer. I love animation and all and I'm very excited about it, it's just I'd hate to squander my knack for writing in pursuit of an animation major. So the bottom line is I'm conflicted and I would like to know if switching to Writing for Film and Television would be plausible given the circumstances.
Thank you

Ummmm I’m not relly sure about that. The day after I was accepted I switched from Cinematography to a Film major within 20 minutes via email with admissions but that is because it is so closely related. It may be a bit of a challenge but it’s worth a shot, and better to try sooner than later!

Thank you for the reply! @camchristian
Do you think it is appropriate to ask to switch so soon?

I had asked a day or two after acceptance incase it were to take a while to make the switch! So yes probably better now than later.

My daughter and I just took the tour at Emerson and one of the tour guides, a senior told us she switched majors like 6 times while there, so I guess switching is ok!! Good luck!
