Switching my major at UCLA to Art History?

I have all the major requirements for Art History for UCLA, but I chose to apply to UCLA as a pre- Human Biology and Society major. Since I'm still "pre" major, will I be able to easily change majors at orientation?

If Art History is not impacted, you can easily switch in at orientation since you have the requirements. Be careful though. You will not be able to switch back as easily to Human Bio…since it is impacted.

Art History isn’t impacted. I know haha. I’m pretty sure I’m going to shock the counselor at orientation. “You want to switch out of Human bio to art history?!!?”

is psychobiology impacted at UCLA? Is it possible for my girldfriend to switch from Ecology to Psychobiology?

^Psychobiology is impacted, but she can switch into it as someone who was admitted to a Life Sciences major IF she can finish all the preparatory course-work for the Pre-major before she hits 150 units. I was not allowed to switch cause I would’ve been way past 150 units by the time I would be finished with the prep =[ The list of preparatory course can be seen here:

Actually I think you should contact the Art History department ASAP…the orientation dates might be decided by department…so you will most likely be attending orientation with all Life Sciences majors. Ask them if they can possibly switch you right now or which orientation you should go to.

But Art History and Human Biology are both in Letter + Sciences?

Letters and Sciences is the college. Orientation occurs by majors…so on a certain day, maybe all the Chemistry, Biology, and Engineering majors will have orientation for example. Maybe English, French, and Japanese are on a different day. I dunno. If you want to meet up with Art History transfers during the summer and have your classes planned out correctly, I suggest contacting them and making sure you go to the right orientation.

I’ll contact them but I just looked at the new student orientation for transfers and it seems like there isn’t a specific date for majors.
